Ford’s Future Undefined

Ford have announced that up to 440 jobs will go at their Geelong and Broadmeadowsplants in Victoria. The high Australian Dollar, decreasing demand for large vehicles and over reliance on handouts have all been raised in the debate over why car companies, one after another, have been shedding jobs.

But for unions, their main concern has been with the 440 families facing an uncertain future. The manufacturing union has been in talk with Ford, but Victorian Assistant Secretary Leigh Diehm says that the details are still coming through.
