Over 300 Caltex Cuts

Around 300 Sydney refinery workers are in shock today with Caltex announcing that they will close their Kurnell refinery in the second half of 2014. The move has caused anger, with Australian Workers Union’s Paul Howes saying both the NSW and Federal Governments should be stepping in to protect jobs.

Caltex says the job losses are part of a review announced last August, but Unions think they are simply cost shifting.
